ABOUT US THE PHILIPPINE SOCIETY OF AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERS (PSAE) The Philippine Society of Agricultural Engineers (PSAE) was founded in 1950 to advance the theory and practice of agricultural engineering. PSAE is a non-profitable professional organization duly registered by the Securities and Exchange Commission in accordance with the Corporation Code of the Philippines (Batas Pambansa Blg. 68), approved on May 1, 1980. PSAE is the only accredited national organization of about 5,800 licensed agricultural engineers by the Professional Regulatory Commission that can be mobilized for the provision of professional and technical services as provided for under the Philippine Agricultural Engineering Act of 1998 (RA 8559). The PSAE has a maintaining national office at Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Building, Elliptical Road, Diliman, Quezon City, where day-to-day operations and transactions with other parties are conducted. The PSAE has also its provincial office with a library & conference hall at National Irrigation Administration Building, CLSU Compound, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, and fifteen (15) Regional Chapters nationwide to accomplish its mission on the promotion of practice and enhancement of the agricultural engineering profession towards accelerating the development and modernization of agriculture and fishery sector, which are implemented through a network with government and non-government organizations. The PSAE as provided for in RA 8559, agricultural engineers are mandated to conduct studies, evaluation, operation, and management on agricultural machineries & facilities, soil & water conservation, energy management for rural electrification, environmental engineering & management, and other related task to the field of agricultural engineering. PSAE as provided for by its approved Articles of Incorporation is authorized to enter into contracts, agreements, and collaboration with any organization or agency for developmental projects to encourage the professional improvements as well as to extend the knowledge, experiences, and expertise of its members to broaden the usefulness of agricultural engineering. Through the society's mission "The PSAE shall endeavor towards accelerating the development and modernization of the agriculture and fishery sector", the organization's most significant activities undertaken and being conducted are: (1) the completed implemented project with the National Meat Inspection Commission (NMIC) re: Establishment of an Indicative Abattoir Development Master Plan; (2) the initiated activity entitled Inhinyero Agrikultura Program–Post Harvest and Agricultural Mechanization Component: A Nationwide Survey of Agricultural Machinery and Facilities. This is a project with Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Postharvest Research and Extension; (3) the continuous partnership with Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR), National Agricultural and Fishery Council (NAFC), Bureau of Postharvest Research and Extension (BPRE), and Agricultural Machinery Testing and Evaluation Center (AMTEC) on the “Adoption of the Philippine Agricultural Engineering Standards (PAES), Volume I, II, and III” thus, this accomplishment prescribes as the Code of technical Standards for the Practice of Agricultural Engineering. Section 9 (h) of Republic Act of 8559 otherwise known as the Philippine Agricultural Engineering Act of 1998; (4) the continuous hosting of the International Conference and Exhibition on Agricultural Engineering and Related Technologies; (5) the sponsorship of the PSAE Annual National Convention; and (6) sustained the Bi-annual publication of Philippine Agricultural Engineering Journal (PAEJ) and Proceeding of the Annual Conventions to provide members and other institution up-to-date information on the advances of Agricultural Engineering and allied profession. For over 55 years now, PSAE has proven its worth as a dynamic and responsive professional organization that geared its thoughts and actions towards achieving its goals and objectives as manifested by its valuable undertakings and continuous mission to contribute in the nations' agricultural and fishery productivity and consequently, economic development in the light of unity.
